After being closed for a week for a complete overhaul, Bristol-based Better Food’s Gloucester Road new-look café was unveiled on Saturday 11th May, offering a ‘cosier vibe’.

Explaining the reason for the refurb, Better Food’s Charlotte Senior, says: “First and foremost, we wanted to improve the customer experience. We’ve moved the service area towards the café entrance so customers are immediately welcomed and can see what daily offering we have available. We’ve created more seating with comfier bench seats and a couple of booths (these are always a customer favourite) as well as a high bar and stools in one window so customers can watch the world go by.

“We’ve got some beautiful new wooden table tops from Bristol Wood Recycling Project to give some more warmth to the café, as well as some colour on the walls and more plants. We’ve also added a small gallery wall to showcase the history of Better Food.”

Better Food brunch

The refurbishment comes along with the launch of a delicious new brunch menu with dishes inspired by the wide array of herbs and spices available from Better Food’s seasonal and daily changing salads combined with organic fresh produce.

Featuring produce from The Story Farms from Chew Magna, Greens of Glastonbury, Strode Valley, Lye Cross Farm and Bristol Loaf, as well as homemade oils, pestos and sauerkrauts from the Better Food kitchen.

New dishes include a Bishopston Brekkie and a beef toastie with chimichurri, garlic mushrooms and cheese, alongside cheese and sauerkraut toasties and favourites like shakshuka and avocado on toast.

The store celebrated by offering the first 50 customers free coffee on the day.
