Nush Foods has reformulated its high-protein almond yog range as it looks to capitalise on continued growth in demand for dairy-free, protein-rich products during Veganuary.
The British brand, which specialises in dairy- and soya-free almond yogs and spreads, has developed a creamier and thicker recipe using a blend of European almonds and fava bean protein. The plant protein is sourced from European suppliers, with the company stating that sustainability and ingredient functionality were key considerations during development.
Founded in 2016 by former police officers Bethany and Paul Eaton, Nush was created to address a gap in the market for plant-based yoghurt alternatives that avoid both dairy and soya.
Bethany Eaton comments: “At Nush, we prove that dairy-free doesn’t have to be bland or boring,” said Bethany. “Our recipe combines almond goodness with the protein benefits of fava protein, offering a delicious and nutritious dairy-free option. There’s no high-protein plant-based yog in the market that doesn’t contain soya, so I wanted to create something that tastes amazing too!”
The high-protein almond yogs are positioned at consumers seeking dairy-free options without gluten, refined sugar or soya. According to NIQ data (52 w/e 27 July 2024), sales of high-protein products increased by 16.6% over the past year, reflecting broader consumer interest in protein as part of everyday diets.
The refreshed range is available in Natural, Strawberry, Blueberry and Raspberry flavours, offered in 350g and 120g formats, alongside a Vanilla Fudge variant in a 350g pot.
Nush has also expanded its on-the-go offering, with Blueberry and Strawberry yog tubes sold online via Ocado in multipacks. Alongside yogs, the brand continues to offer almond-based creamy spreads, positioned as a dairy-free alternative to soft cheese.
Nush products are stocked by Ocado, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, Marks & Spencer, Whole Foods, Planet Organic and independent retailers, with 350g yog pots retailing at £3.25 RRP.
