French organic and natural retail chain La Vie Claire aims to open between 25 and 30 new stores over the next few years, reports Circuits Bio

The new store push will cement La Vie Claire’s position as the leading franchise operator on the French organic retail scene.

There are currently around 380 La Vie Claire stores across France, with nearly 250 operating as franchises (there is also a limited presence in Switzerland, Belgium, Mauritius and Lebanon).

The retailer has been opening new stores at pace in recent years (it opened 40 in 2016, for example). This month the company attended a leading franchise fair in Paris, where it was promoting its “very accessible” franchise model. The company is currently actively retraining prospective franchisees – “often couples, or families”.

La Vie Claire stores typically occupy a small to medium size footprint – 270 m2 on average – which the retailer describes as having a “human dimension”.

One of the keys to the retailer’s success is the depth of its La Vie Claire range – totalling around 2,000 products. It also offers a smaller sub-brand offering low prices on everyday items. La Vie Claire reported total sales of €300 million in 2018.
