The Veganuary campaign has announced Benjamin Zephaniah as a new Ambassador. The author and poet is helping to launch Veganuary’s 2022 campaign which kicked off last week.

Speaking about his decision to become a Veganuary Ambassador, Benjamin says: “I originally went vegan at the age of 13 because of my love of animals. Then I realised how ethically sound veganism was. Way back then I felt that being vegan was a good thing to do to help the planet, now both history and science have proved me right.”

He added: “The world now knows that vegan is the way to go. It’s the one thing we can all do to help heal the world and ourselves. Veganuary is a great way to start the year, and it’s also a great way to start the future.” Benjamin has also donated his favourite recipe – Zephaniah Style Ma Po Tofu – to Veganuary’s 2022 cookbook that everyone who signs-up for the challenge receives.

He also shares his encouragement and advice for people thinking of trying vegan this January in Veganuary’s new campaign video which also features Chris Packham, Hollyoaks’ Eva O’Hara, Emmerdale’s James Moore and TV presenter Jasmine Harman.

Joanna Lumley, New York Mayor Eric Adams and Dragon Den’s Deborah Meaden are also backing the campaign this year; while Venus Williams, Dr Jane Goodall, Sadie Frost, Bella Ramsey and Bryan Adams have also donated their favourite vegan recipes to Veganuary’s 2022 cookbook.
