Bio&Me

With figures showing that kefir yogurts and drinks have hit £91 million, Bio&Me has complemented its current kefir yoghurt offering with the launch of two new Kefir Drinks.

Available in Natural and Vanilla variants, the two-serve 500ml bottles contain 18 different culture strains (including two of the world’s most studied: LGG and BB-12) – more than any other kefir drink on the market, claims Bio&Me, adding that the drinks also contain more than double the average number of active cultures at over 100 billion.

Launched in response to ‘huge consumer demand’, the drinks are also naturally high in protein and an excellent source of calcium, B12, B2 and phosphorus, and contain no added sugars, emulsifiers or thickeners.

“Many kefir drinks on the market, even those labelled as ‘gut healthy’, are often packed with added sugars, thickeners and artificial ingredients,” comments Bio&Me co-founder Dr Megan Rossi. “We’ve worked really hard to create as close a match as possible to traditional, homemade kefir, which is celebrated for its strain diversity, high active cultures count, and clean ingredients. Our unique fermentation process eliminates the need for emulsifiers, thickeners or added sugars, letting the quality of the ingredients shine through – and importantly, they taste great too.”

The SKUs will initially be rolled out in Sainsbury’s and Whole Foods, the latter featuring a window takeover at its flagship High Street Kensington store.
