The Biofach Congress returns from 10–13 February 2026 with an ambitious agenda aimed at driving the organic sector “to the next level”. Running alongside the trade fair, the four-day congress will bring together producers, retailers, policymakers, scientists and sustainability leaders to address the challenges and opportunities shaping organic markets worldwide.

Under the headline theme “Growing Tomorrow: Young Voices, Bold Visions,” Biofach 2026 places a strong emphasis on the next generation of organic actors. Visionary ideas, young entrepreneurial perspectives and intergenerational dialogue are set to define the programme, with a focus on how emerging business models, products and values can strengthen and renew established organic structures.

This generational focus will be visible from day one. Climate activist and prominent voice for social change Luisa Neubauer will deliver the keynote address at the official opening, setting the tone for a congress centred on dialogue, transformation and courage to change.

Seven forums, one key question
At the heart of the congress are seven themed forums – the Biofach Forum, Retail Forum, Agriculture Forum, Sustainability Forum, Policy Forum, Science Forum and STADTLANDBIO Forum. Together, they form a comprehensive platform to examine one overarching question: How will the next generation shape the future of the organic sector?

Sessions will explore topics ranging from power structures and ownership models to retail transformation, policy frameworks and scientific innovation. A standout discussion, “Are we the organic family we think we are?”, will examine shifting power dynamics within the industry and the role of younger professionals. Building on this, the SustainableFutureLab session “Who owns organic?” will bring together leaders from retail, manufacturing and start-ups to debate how growth, investment and consolidation can coexist with credibility, purpose and organic values.

Markets, figures and global perspectives

As in previous years, the Biofach Congress will serve as a key source of market intelligence. Presentations of the latest German and global organic market figures will provide an essential basis for strategic decision-making. The German organic market analysis for 2025 and the Global Organic Market Overview, hosted by IFOAM Organics International, will offer insights into regional developments, international strategies and future growth prospects.

India, Biofach 2026’s Country of the Year, will feature prominently across the programme. Dedicated country sessions will highlight the rapid development of India’s organic sector, driven largely by young initiatives, and its growing role within global organic value chains.

Innovation, retail and mainstream expansion

Innovation will be another focal point, with trend tours, start-up pitches and the presentation of “The Future of Organic – Biofach Trends 2026” showcasing the key trends expected to shape the market. Retail transformation will also be under the spotlight, as structural changes raise questions about nationwide availability, distribution channels and the path to mainstream adoption.

Sessions on organic wholesaling, food retail marketplaces and the “Bio 30/30” target will explore how organic products can gain wider listings in conventional retail while maintaining integrity.

Organic food as a local economic driver
The STADTLANDBIO Forum will examine organic food as a location and economic factor, particularly in out-of-home catering and regional development. Case studies will demonstrate how municipalities can promote organic regional produce despite tight budgets, highlighting organic food’s contribution to jobs, value creation and sustainable local economies.

Knowledge beyond the event
Extending its reach beyond the physical event, Biofach digital will provide participants with access to recorded sessions and streams, ensuring that insights and debates continue well after the trade fair closes.

With its strong generational focus, comprehensive market analysis and practical solutions across the value chain, the Biofach Congress 2026 positions itself as a key forum for shaping the future of organic food and farming.
