Bio-D expands into personal care with Allergy UK approved range

Bio-D has launched a new Allergy UK approved personal care range.  

The new collection includes shampoo, hair conditioner, body wash and bubble bath, marking the company’s first move beyond household cleaning in its 35-year history.

Bio-D says the new range reflects growing consumer demand for personal care products that are suitable for sensitive skin while maintaining strong sustainability credentials. The products include both standard retail sizes and larger refill options.

All four products in the range have received Allergy UK approval, indicating they have undergone independent assessment and are suitable for people with allergies or sensitivities. Bio-D already has 12 Allergy UK approved household products, and the company views the expansion as a logical step as concerns around skin sensitivity and allergies continue to rise. Allergy UK estimates that by 2026, up to half of the UK population could be affected by allergies, increasing demand for low-risk, fragrance-free personal care options.

The new personal care range has been developed using 99% naturally derived ingredients and plant-based surfactants. The shampoo and conditioner are designed for sensitive scalps, with aloe vera included in the shampoo to support hydration. Both products are available in 500ml bottles and 5L refill formats, supporting Bio-D’s refill-led approach to reducing plastic waste.

The body wash is pH-balanced and formulated to cleanse without stripping the skin, making it suitable for regular use by adults and children. It is also offered in 500ml and 5L formats. The bubble bath, supplied in a 1L bottle alongside a 5L refill, is designed to produce gentle bubbles without causing irritation, positioning it as a family-friendly option.

Commenting on the launch, managing director Lloyd Atkin, said: “Moving into personal care felt like a natural progression. Our customers were looking for products that matched the standards they already expect from Bio-D, particularly around allergy awareness and sustainability. This range has been developed carefully to meet those expectations.”
