The owners of the London-based Revital health store chain have spoken of the “heartbreaking decision” they made in March to wind up the business, which this week went into liquidation.

All the stores have been closed, with 36 staff members affected.

The Revital business was founded by Raj Vora over 30 years ago as a single store in Willesden Green. Over the subsequent decades, and later under the leadership of CEO Rahil Vora, the retailer developed a growing own-label range and invested heavily in online services to become a national e-commerce company. With 18 store locations at its peak, Revital was Britain’s second biggest specialist health store chain to Holland & Barrett.

Speaking to Health Food Business, Rahil Vora said that the retailer had battled a prolonged period of challenging trading conditions, along with rising operating costs and, in common with other businesses own the sector, had struggled with “Covid legacy pressures”.

He added: ““For my father, Raj, and myself, this has been incredibly heartbreaking after spending more than 35 years in the health food industry. We remain very proud of what Revital represented for so long and extremely grateful to our staff, customers, suppliers and the wider industry for their support over the years.”
