Brussels-based organic co-op färm – with 17 stores in the city and across Belgium – has been celebrating its eighth anniversary this week.

färm co-founder, Alexis Descampe, said this week: “It’s been eight years since the färm adventure officially started, with the launch of the färm store in Sainte-Catherine. There have been so many adventures since these beginnings – challenges, questioning, learnings, but above all amazing encounters within this world of organic!”.

Posting on LinkedIn, Descampe thanked all of the ‘färmers’ – colleagues, investors producers, administrators – who have supported the groundbreaking co-op since its launch in 2013.

färm – with its strapline ‘good food, good people’ – set out to offer “a real distribution alternative’ and places cooperation at the heart of relations, from the producer to the consumer. It describes its stores as the “engine of a transition” to sustainable consumption with organic farming at its heart. Central the the färm ethos is a determination to build a fully independent ethical distribution network.
