Asda says the refill zone at its new Monk’s Cross (York) superstore will be the “largest refill store in the country” when it opens.

The store will stock over 100 branded and own-brand products sold in loose and unpackaged format in a huge 18-bay refill zone, as the retailer continues its drive to reduce plastic and help customers shop more sustainability.

Big brand involvement
A striking feature of Asda’s refill offer is the involvement of so many big name brands – Kellogg’s, Napolina Pasta, Yorkshire Tea, Pantene, Head & Shoulders, Radox, CIF, Dr Oetker and Whiskas among them – alongside its Asda own label loose deducts.

The refill zone in York is part of the supermarket’s strategy to remove 3 billion pieces of single use plastic from its business by 2025.
