Rasmus Prehn, Denmark’s influential Minister for Food, Agriculture and Fisheries, will join a discussion on how the Scandinavian region can accelerate progress towards meeting the EU’s 25%-organic-by -2030 target at this month’s Nordic Organic Food Fair (MalmöMässan, Sweden, 17-18 November).
The session – titled ‘Organic as a part of our sustainable future – Increasing the organic market share to reach the EU target in 2030’ – will take place in the Organic Theatre at 11.30 on day 1of the event (17 November).
Rasmus Prehn will be joined by Aksel Rømer (CEO, Rømer Vegan), Aviaja Riemann-Andersen (founder and CEO, Agrain), Per Løberg Eriksen (head of sustainability, Coop Norge SA), Thomas Roland (CSR manager, Coop Denmark), and sustainability manager of Lidl Sweden. Moderating and putting key questions to the panel will be Paul Holmbeck (Holmbeck EcoConsult & IFOAM Board Member).
The Minister will also attend a special opening ceremony at the Nordic Organic Food Fair (which isco-located with Eco Life Scandinavia).
Since his appointment to the cabinet role in 2020 hehasplayed a key role in recent political agreements to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the agriculture sector and supported organic principles. For the first time at the event, senior professionals from leading supermarkets, retailers, wholesalers, health stores and restaurants, plus importers and exporters working within the organic sector are invited to hear how the Danish government aims to further assist the organic sector and why it is a vital part of Denmark’s sustainability goals.
The Minister will also be there with more than 450 exhibitors who will be showcasing the very best choice of organic food, drink and sustainable products from around the world. Many of these brands have been a key component to the rise in footfall of organic products in Scandinavia, whilst others are hoping to be part of this vital movement.
