Immune health will be the next topic up for discussion in the new Health Stores UK (formerly NAHS) Shop Talk series.
Shop Talk launched last month with a lively and well received discussion on joint health. Co-hosted by Joanne Hill from Amaranth and Vicky Perks from Beanfreaks, the session also included a ‘guest slot’ from Tim Gaunt, head of research and development at Natures Aid.
Jo and Vicky each gave an account of own their approach and experience on advising customers on joint health from the retailer’s perspective. The also discussed the most in-demand products and supplements, and why an individualised approach to helping customers is likely to lead to best results for the customer – and repeat sales for the retailer. They also touched on the growing awareness of the effects of the menopause and joint health.
Tim, a biochemist by training, began his presentation by highlighting the enormous scale of the problem of joint pain, before looking at the mechanisms and stages of the two conditions behind much of it – rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. He then summarised latest research into the supplements and dietary changes that can help support people with joint pain and complaints.
The joint health Shop Talk session is now available on ‘catch-up’ in the members area of the Health Stores UK website.
For their immune health Shop Talk event, Jo and Vicky will joined by Aimee Benbow, director of nutrition at Viridian, who will offer her well informed take on the subject – and be ready to answer your questions. The Zoom-based session is free for all retailers to attend, and takes place on Wednesday 10 November at 6pm.
