HFMA announces 2026 industry award winners

The Health Food Manufactures’ Association (HFMA) has announced the recipients of its annual industry awards, which were presented at its AGM held last month at the Wellcome Collection in London. 

The Maurice Hanssen Lifetime Achievement Award “celebrates an individual who embodies all that is best about our industry and has demonstrated dedication and commitment throughout their career”. This year it was awarded to Vicky Mciver of Power Health for her long and continued efforts to support and promote the trade. The HFMA said: “Vicky recognises the importance of the role the industry has to play in producing quality products and supporting wellness of the end consume,” and noted that she “continues to drive Power Health forward with dedication and by continuing to encourage innovation”.

Natural Newsdesk editor Jim Manson was awarded the 2026 Media Communicator Award. The award was made: “In recognition of your support for the industry, bringing the news to the trade and beyond, not being afraid to push the boundaries with controversial stories and your dedication to furthering reporting on the industry to a wider audience”.

This year also saw the inaugural presentation of the Roger Lane Growth and Innovation Award. Presented by Janet Groves, chairman of Lanes Heath and Roger’s daughter, the award was presented to Julie Chen from The Cheeky Panda for her work in driving awareness and education around the sustainability of paper products and the use of bamboo, the continual development of new products and the enthusiastic support of the natural products trade.

Janet Groves commented: “My father was passionate about continued innovation and growth within this industry, the environment and sustainability was also something very close to his heart, so I am delighted to present Julie with this award in recognition of all she has done and continues to do.”

The award, a specially commissioned bronze sculpture of a tree symbolising growth and longevity set on an oak plinth, was made by Natasha Ratcliffe an artist based in Falmouth. 

Martin Last, HFMA director general commented: “I am delighted that we have this opportunity to celebrate individuals within our industry and wish to congratulate all the winners and thank them for their commitment and dedication to their roles in the industry.”

He continued: “’I would also like to extend my thanks the Janet Groves and the Lane family for their support in presenting the Roger Lane Growth and Innovation Award, I am sure this will go on to become a sought-after accolade and will celebrate the best of growth and innovation in our industry.”
