Met Foods has entered the beauty-from-within segment with the launch of Mushus, a lightly sparkling skincare drink formulated with vegan collagen.
The new brand, which launches ahead of the summer season, is positioned as a hybrid between a functional wellness supplement and a soft drink alternative. Available in Raspberry Fizz and Pineapple Fizz flavours, Mushus combines plant-based collagen, probiotics and mushroom extracts in a ready-to-drink format aimed at consumers interested in skin health and convenience.
Met Foods is already known in the dairy-free category through its Nush Protein and Cocos Organic brands. With Mushus, the company is expanding into the growing ingestible beauty market, where demand for collagen-based products and functional beverages continues to rise.
Each can contains 3g of vegan collagen alongside hyaluronic acid, probiotic strain HU58® and organic tremella mushroom. According to the company, the formulation is designed to support hydration, skin elasticity and the skin barrier, while also addressing the relationship between gut health and skin health.
Unlike traditional collagen drinks, which typically use marine or bovine collagen, Mushus uses a plant-based alternative engineered to replicate collagen’s triple helix structure. The company says the ingredient has a smaller peptide size intended to improve absorption compared with conventional animal-derived collagen sources.
The drinks are lightly sparkling and made with fruit juice, while remaining free from added sugar, artificial sweeteners and preservatives. They contain fewer than 20 calories per 100ml and are suitable for vegan, dairy-free and gluten-free diets.
The launch reflects wider consumer interest in multifunctional products that combine wellness claims with convenience and flavour. Functional beverages are increasingly competing not only with supplements, but also with traditional soft drinks, particularly among younger consumers looking for products that fit into everyday routines.
Founder Bethany Eaton developed the concept following her own experience rebuilding skin and hair health after chemotherapy treatment. She says the aim was to simplify supplement routines by combining multiple functional ingredients into a single product.
“I wanted to create something that was easy to incorporate into daily life while focusing on ingredients that supported skin health from within,” she says. “For us, the combination of vegan collagen, probiotics and tremella mushroom was central to that approach.”
The drinks are sold in packs of six, priced at £20, and are available direct-to-consumer at launch. The company is targeting health-conscious consumers seeking alternatives to both traditional supplements and high-sugar soft drinks, particularly during the summer months when hydration and skin health products typically see increased attention.
