Condiment challenger brand Toss has secured new investment to support brand awareness, retail distribution and product development as it seeks to broaden the use of salad dressings and condiments beyond the traditional salad occasion.
Founded by sisters Grace and Sophie Devlin, Toss makes plant-based dressings and condiments that are vegan, gluten-free and refined sugar-free, and contain no artificial emulsifiers or preservatives. Its products have received Great Taste Awards.
The new funding will be used to increase consumer awareness and trial, develop the brand’s direct-to-consumer business and expand its retail footprint.
“We wanted to find investment partners who could bring experience and networks as well as capital as we scale the business,” said Grace Devlin, co-founder of Toss. “The investment will support consumer awareness and trial, while allowing us to continue developing our direct-to-consumer community and retail presence.
“We’ll also be launching new product formats designed to make it easier to use Toss across everyday meals, whether that’s drizzling, dipping, marinating, glazing or spreading.
The investment has attracted backing from investors from the food, venture and direct-to-consumer sectors.
Toss is currently stocked by retailers and food businesses including Eat 17, Glasette, Harrods, Holland & Barrett, Panzer’s, BEN’s, Selfridges & Co and Superette, as well as more than 100 farm shops and delis. The range is available wholesale through Mahalo, Suma, Faire, Artesian Food Club and CLF.
